Don't miss the first annual "L.A. artRISING" Festival - Saturday, October 19th in Culver City!
This unique festival is dedicated to inspiring a vision of "pay-it-forward" communities...organized and powered by remarkable artists. This year our centerpiece performance -- a Double Feature at the Actors Gang -- will raise funds and awareness for two phenomenal organizations: Homeboy Industries and Beit T'shuvah.
Additionally, the mini-arts walk before the show, the dinner between shows, and the refreshments afterwards have been arranged with establishments who are donating a portion of their proceeds to a wonderful Arts Education program for under-served youth in Watts and MacArthur Park.
Homeboy Industries serves high-risk, formerly gang-involved men and women with a continuum of free services and programs, and operates seven social enterprises that serve as job-training sites. Their slogan: "Nothing Stops a Bullet Like a Job."
Beit T'shuvah is a unique organization that is both a Jewish temple and residential rehab center, bringing individuals back from addiction and dependency. Their treatment center offers outreach to the entire community including prevention programs, family and alumni counseling and support, court advocacy and professional training. "Recover Your Passion. Discover Your Purpose."
The Arts Education program is run by our community center/arts collective, "Imaginese" in partnership with the national SPARK mentorship program. We develop confidence & passion through the arts, helping inner-city youth imagine lives filled with creativity & possibility, no matter what they pursue. "Imagine Us Free."
